Feels LIke Home...

We saw this guy Thursday night at a mall.  That would have been Oct 30th ... or officially before Halloween.  In case you were unaware anytime before Nov 1 is officially the time you can complain that Christmas stuff is out too early.

Now I am sure Wal-Mart and Cracker Barrel have had Christmas stuff out since September but this was a comforting reminder of the over-commercialization of Christmas (its not just for Deepavali anymore)!

Update:  Today (Sat) we saw a ton of Christmas cards at a store.  They were very heavy on the "Seasons Greetings" and "Merry Christmas" and light on some of the stuff you might imagine (and I don't mean Santa).

People are people everywhere, aren't they?

Here in the Seattle area the stores put out Christmas stuff before they put out Halloween. I guess they want to get people in the Christmas mood as early as possible. It's all about the almighty $$$$$. Then, we have to listen to the news after Christmas to hear how the stores did for sales. And, how much of a profit that they made. All the stores care about is the $$$$$$$. Love ya'll.

For once, Hudson is smiling and Bethany is not! What was her disappointment?

Now you are 14 hours ahead of us...we fell back last night. I went to be at 8:30pm....real time.
I was tired. Bethany is making the face this time not Hudson.

I thought you were either 12 or 13 hours ahead. 14?

Christmas started on the shelves early September, businesses started decorating late September. Neighbors started decorating houses by mid October and asking if we weren't decorating for Christmas yet. We caved to cultural pressure and put up our Christmas decorations by late October - the first time they have ever been up before Thanksgiving - ever! We've become part of the culture of the Dominican Republic! The day after the tree went up, Tinana wanted to know when Santa was coming.
Love ya,
Delores

I've had my Hallmark ornaments in layaway since July. By this point, I've forgotten which ones I bought. Oh, commercialism!
