Volcano? Yeah We Got Those, Too

On Friday afternoon we made a quick drive up to a nearby (active) volcano. Its the kind of thing most people do their first day here but when have been here all this time and hadn't seen it. This is a view down into the crater.  You can see air coming out of the ground down there.  It smelled like Sulphur Well for all you Hiseville/Metcalfe County/Lighthouse Restaurant fans.
The zoomed in view...
The "through a crack" view. One of the great things about living in a place where there is no liability is that you get right up to (or over) the edge.  Through this little crack you could follow a path downward right into the crater if you are so inclined.  There is no one to tell you no.
We saw these whiteys while we were there.  Very rare to spot so many in one place.  They were drawing quite a bit of attention.
A big thank you to Becky A who was willing to go to such great lengths to get us some Glasgow shirts.  Notice how happy Hudson was to be doing so much touring...

Were you a little nervous getting so close to the volcano?? Was the sulphur smell really strong? Thanks for the great pictures!

The smell was not bad at all where we were. Maybe had we taken the path less travelled it would have been a little different. The temp seemed the same to me. No difference that I noticed.
